LONG AWAITED SENIOR COMMUNITY IN JUNEAU, ALASKA HAS BROKEN GROUND

You can’t make this up.  Many years ago, a small group of local dedicated seniors in Juneau decided to purchase a piece of property for a much needed Senior Housing community.  The City of Juneau was in full support of the project.  Even the local residents donated money to advance the cause.  A Juneau resident’s donation stood out not because of the amount, but because of the passion.  He said “I have only $2 to donate today, but If I win the lottery, I will donate all of my winnings to the project”.  He then donated an additional $2.  At the groundbreaking ceremony last week Sue Douglas who fought tooth and nail to get this project funded and approved presented Matthew Parks of Torrey Pines Development Group the four $1 bills in a picture frame.

Now, the framed donation will be placed in the finished building. This small donation is a reminder of how important this project is to the city and residents of Juneau. Irwin Partners Architects is honored to be part of the journey to bring Senior Living to this great town in Alaska.

The community will include 57 Assisted Living units, 41 Memory Care units, Living Room, Theater, Dining Rooms, Bistro, Administrative Offices, Activity Rooms, Beauty Salons, Fitness Center. Library, Massage Room
