Leadership

Irwin Partners Architects has participated in some of the most important advances in senior housing—a proud legacy begun by Carl Irwin, who served the retirement-living industry almost exclusively over more than three decades. The firm has worked with the Departments of Health Services (DHS) and Social Services (DSS) and the California Office of Statewide Health and Planning Department (OSHPD) to change nursing and long-term care requirements. Inspired by our highly dedicated clients and the populations they serve, we’re helping our elders lead rewarding, fulfilling lives. Now in our second generation, we look forward to continuing to lead the evolution in senior housing for Baby Boomers who, we suspect, will redefine retirement just as they redefined every life phase.

Our work has received design and service awards from a wide range of organizations, including the American Institute of Architects, the National Association of Home Builders, the National Council on Seniors Housing, and the California Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. Many of our projects have also received honors and awards from the surrounding cities and communities.

Our firm and its principals are extremely active in organizations that are shaping the future of architecture and design for the populations we serve.
